We have a group of individuals from our church that hold a Sunday church service at the women's prison in Mitchellville, IA on the 2nd and 5th Sunday of every month.
The group started about 15 years ago when the door was opened for them to get into the prison system. Many of the group's volunteers have come and gone through the years, but two of the current participants have been there since the beginning.
We all make mistakes in our lives. We are all broken in one way or another. But it doesn't mean that person, that life should be discarded, locked up and forgotten about. We are so thankful that the Heavenly Father has not given up on us. It is our privilege to go and be used by God to make a difference in the lives of the women at Mitchellville. To be His hands and feet...
In addition to the Sunday services we also provide support to purchase bibles for the women there. Since this ministry was started in 2000, over 1,900 bibles have been purchased.
